06/06/12 - Looking back at the Lassiter for Baclao & Guevarra Trade
Back in February, when the first Trade of Marcio for Nonoy Baclao and Rey Guevarra was proposed... Mico Halili wrote about "The other side of the Lassiter Trade"... here are some excerpt from it...
"The Final Score: The other side of the Lassiter trade" "You and many others probably can’t fathom the idea: two bench players for one third of Powerade’s charismatic Big 3. Baclao, on the other hand, probably can’t wait for it to materialize. He probably believes the promise of more playing time, productivity, fulfillment and validation exists somewhere else...While Lassiter scores, rebounds, finds open teammates during Powerade 10-to-zero runs, Baclao and Guevarra watch games unfold from the Petron bench... (par 7) ...“Naiintindihan ko naman. Siyempre si Lassiter, nagagamit siya. Tapos kaming dalawa ni Nonoy hindi naman nakikita,” Guevarra, who scored six points off the bench against B-Meg, shares. “Hintay hintay lang tayo. Kanya-kanyang panahon lang yan. Ayaw ko na siya problemahin.” (par 11) Baclao, on the other hand, has no comment. (par 12) Guevarra sounds like he’s fine with whatever happens. He stays. He goes. Laro lang. Baclao looks like he’ll only be fine with that one elusive option. A Cinderella team might lose a limb when Lassiter leaves. Some might mourn. I suspect Nonoy will react differently. A controversial trade could make him whole again... (par 13) http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/248898/sports/opinion/the-final-score-the-other-side-of-the-lassiter-trade As a Powerade Tigers Fan, we were really hoping that the trade would not go through. And we did whatever we could to make our wished known. Some may have said alot of hurtful things to Nonoy and Rey... but the bottom line was that, we did not want Marcio to leave. Why fix something that's not broken? But then it really did not matter what we thought... the trade went through... and part of me wishes, that instead of Lordy Tugade, c Nonoy Baclao nalang ang binigay... but then again... what we think really doesn't matter... sayang talaga... Now he sees #Fafarey in the limelight, after his best player of the game performance, with a career night, and a slam dunk a mere 6 weeks after the trade... One could only imagine what he feels and what he tells himself, while he sits with Marcio on the Petron bench... FTW: #FreeNoyBaclao vs #FreeRicoMaierhofer |
